The movie that turned Steven Spielberg into a big Hollywood hitter was plagued by technical problems during its arduous shoot at sea. Spielberg's decision (out of necessity) to keep the shark concealed until key moments ramped up the tension, while John Williams' score became a character all of its own. Turns out they really did need a bigger boat!
